The Financial Administrator will provide pre and post award professional level financial and administrative support for the Department of Surgery. This position requires the appropriate application of a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in the fields of research accounting and post-award administration financial analysis. Monthly duties will include reconciliation of contract and grant and departmental accounts, running reports, expense and revenue recordings and expense approval, and maintaining accurate data, as well as ensuring that department spreadsheets are up to date. Submitting required reports to the Dept. of Defense and monitoring the small business subcontracting plan for compliance.



Job Summary

Performs pre- and post-award accounting duties for complex grants and contracts. Prepares, negotiates, and monitors grants, contracts, and budgets. Maintains award-related schedules, prepares complex government applications and reports, and interprets policy and procedure. Monitors account activity, performs internal audits, resolves complex issues, and reviews routine financial documents. Develops and implements accounting techniques and procedures for operational improvements and assists with managing special projects and preparing operating budgets.


Essential Functions 

Additionally, the incumbent must have good written and verbal communication skills. Operation of a computer is mandatory.

Additional details about Required Licensure/Certification Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred. Additionally, the incumbent must be proficient in PC operation. The incumbent must have knowledge of basic accounting principles, experience in medical research, grant administration, and familiarity with funding agencies (to include federal funding).
Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Work Arrangement Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.
