About the School of Information Technology

The School of Information Technology confers an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology (PhD-IT). The SoIT has been growing at 18% annually and currently serves more than 1,200 students with 26 full-time faculty members, 22 full-time staff, and 30 part-time faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the Information Technology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, and the Civic Technology Center.

About the Job

The School of Information Technology at the University of Cincinnati seeks to hire a Financial Administrator 1. We are looking for a mission driven, team oriented, highly ambitious individual who wants to serve, make a difference, and strives to perform at competitive levels of excellence.  

 

The principle workload assignment of this position will be to provide financial support for the School of Information Technology. This entails a wide variety of work including financial reporting, purchasing duties, performing account reconciliations, hiring student workers and graduate assistants, processing contracts and payments for student workers, graduate assistants, consultants, contractors, and faculty, and timekeeping. This position will serve as a first point of contact for budget questions and will need to have an understanding of university policies and collaborate with the School on adhering to policies while supporting programmatic and financial growth.

 

The position is housed in the School of Information Technology (SoIT) and integrates with its mission and planning. The position is funded in part by the Ohio Cyber Range Institute grant. 


Job Overview

The Financial Administrator will maintain current and future budgetary facts and assumptions, produce and maintain required budgetary reports, and provide fiscal options to stakeholders. This position will collaborate with the School to achieve the program’s goals and contribute to the success of the School’s strategic plan.


Essential Functions
  • Coordinate and monitor administrative duties.
  • Assist in the development of unit policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the financial status of unit programs and other budget allocations.
  • Implement policies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare reports.
  • May coordinate personnel functions for an operating unit at less than 25% of duties.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree must be in accounting or related field.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Related finance or accounting experience.


Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Accounting or finance-related degree at the bachelor or master’s levels preferred
  • Understanding of the administrative functions, academic programs, and requirements of a University 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Proficient in Office Applications such as (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) 
  • Proficient in the University of Cincinnati Software such as (SAP reporting, R/3 and BW; Catalyst; Concur; Success Factors) 
  • Expected to maintain highest level of professional competency  

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
