Job Description

The Financial Accountant I is responsible for management and maintenance of the fixed asset records, space inventory records, coordinates vehicle fleet management and vehicle fleet leasing program.


Responsibilities:
-Maintain and update fixed asset records in FAMIS for all state required inventorial assets. Prepares and submit all required State and System reports.

-Conduct and oversee completion of annual physical inventory by System and/or State deadline.

-Reconcile physical inventory reported to FAMIS FFX records.

-Develop and maintain agency procedures related to fixed assets and space inventory.

-Maintain and update space inventory records. Prepare and submit required reports.

-Coordinate and oversee data entry and reviews of fleet data into TxFS Fleet System as required by OVFM. Prepare vehicle and equipment replacement plans annually. Perform duties of leasing manager, which include maintaining files for program, monthly billing of lease payments and preparing necessary accounting entries to reflect lease payments.

-Provide training to agency staff on fixed asset and space inventory procedures as requested.

-Serve as backup to Credit Card Coordinator in management of the agency credit cards (procurement, travel, fuel).

-Assist as needed in coordination, preparation and booking of surplus equipment auction.

-Represent TAMFS in system and State meetings and workshops pertaining to assigned duties.

-Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:
Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Business-related field

Preferred Education:  Major in Accounting or Finance
Required Experience:  None

Preferred Experience:  1-2 years experience in property records management or fiscal office at a State agency or institution of higher education in Texas


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required Knowledge:  Working knowledge of Excel, FAMIS, FFX module and State Fleet System

Required Skills:  Good communication and sound judgement.
Required Abilities:  Work independently and in a time sensitive environment with deadlines. Prioritize projects and daily duties. Perform all duties with normal direction and supervision. Review, interpret and apply Federal and State policies and procedures to Agency property controls. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Required:  Texas Driver's License
