Job Description

The Financial Accountant I performs complex administrative support duties in the Payroll Office including setting up new employees, processing of biweekly and monthly payrolls and assisting employees with payroll related problems. This position also completes reconciliation of payroll accounts, preparation of payroll vouchers and assists in accounting-related tasks as needed.


Responsibilities:
-Performs basic administrative support duties in the Payroll Office including setting up new employees and processing of biweekly and monthly payrolls.

-Assist employees with payroll related questions and problems.

-Prepare payroll related vouchers.

-Assist in reconciliation of payroll accounts and payroll transactions.

-Assist in maintaining payroll files, records and administrative duties.

-Attend payroll related meetings with TAMUS as needed.

-Other duties as assigned.

-This is a security-sensitive position.  The individual in this position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA regulations.  The individual is required to handle PHI in accordance with A&M System's policy and is further required to complete HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable time-frame after the individual's employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.


Education and Experience:
Required Education : Bachelor’s degree in business related field
Preferred Education : Major in Accounting or Finance

Required Experience : None

Preferred Experience : 0-2 years experience in a payroll office environment or fiscal office at a TAMUS institution.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Knowledge : Working knowledge of Word and Excel. Basic understanding of general accounting principles.

Preferred Knowledge : Knowledge of governmental accounting and/or payroll laws.

Required Skills : Sound judgement. Great attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills. Oral and written communication skills. Customer service skills.
Required Abilities : Comprehend and apply rules and regulations. Work independently and perform duties in a time sensitive environment. Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Required: Texas Driver's license
