Business and Financial Services provides financial resource management in support of its Financial and Administrative Services clients for The University of Texas at Austin.

Purpose

Support the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis in performing various analyses, reports and financial projections.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee Electronic Office Management for BFS supported clients. Includes determining and implementing efficient routing paths based on document types, documentation of workflow and methodology, onboarding new clients to review and explain routing changes needed, and addressing any client concerns.
  • Analyzes rate proposals together with supporting financial statements and detailed cost data for the purposes of establishing appropriate rates used in charging departmental accounts including grants.
  • Prepares the five year simulation template and supporting workpapers (budget, actuals, transfers, positions) to assess the overall financial health of a department, non-academic unit, college or school.
  • Working with departmental staff to gather information in order to develop proforma financials for project proposals.
  • Using available electronic applications, databases, queries, financial and personnel reports to gather and organize data in order to evaluate and analyze results. Present conclusions, concerns and recommended solutions of analysis.
  • Produce various management reports to meet established deadlines. Monitor budget vs. actual results for departmental accounts on a monthly basis, and recommend budget revisions when needed.
  • Create and update written standard operating procedures and/or presentations for primary and backup tasks. Examine, recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency in financial operations. Participate in training coworkers or new employees related to tasks performed. Participates in training to acquire new knowledge and skills. Integrates and applies knowledge and skills in new or unfamiliar situations.
  • Other related functions as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: Accounting, Finance, Management, or Business Administration.
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. High level of analytical ability and proficient in data analysis.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel such as pivot tables, vlookup, countif, sumif, filtering information, and formatting.
  • Ability to quickly learn to use new technologies/software.
  • Demonstrated tolerance for ambiguity and adaptability. Ability to think critically, research and problem solve. Superior attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, as well as a customer-focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to successfully identify, organize and complete tasks independently and in a team environment. Professional demeanor.
  • Experience working with confidential information and providing support using tact, discretion, and diplomacy.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience working at UT or in a higher education setting. Knowledge of the university's financial systems, business policies and procedures.


Salary Range

$75,000 + depending on qualifications
