Position Description:

The Kentucky Autism Training Center (KATC) is committed to improving the quality of life for autistics in the state of Kentucky - through all stages and setting of life. The Field Training Program Manager II (previously known as Field Training Coordinator- FTC) is vital to this vision. The FTM will seek out, develop, and maintain relationships throughout the commonwealth including the state's systems of support, so that they can provide up-to- date information, insight and support to autistics, caregivers, and community members. 

Job Summary

In alignment with the KATC's mission to build knowledge and confidence, the FTM will: develop, coordinate, and direct model practices with programs for promoting services for autistics. Partnering with Special Education Regional Technical Assistance Center and/or Early Childhood Regional Training Center personnel to facilitate professional development of educators and other service providers to promote high quality services for autistic individuals. In addition, the FTM will promote the use of evidenced-based practices, and assistive technology, by training practitioners, of various disciplines, to build the capacity statewide of high-quality services for individuals across their lifespan. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consult and train the use of assistive technology to maintain or enhance the communication and/or independence of autistics.
  • Serve as a resource for KATC FTM regarding assistive technology.
  • Provide professional development to training sites that have been selected to participate in the KATC statewide training site initiative. 
  • Provide professional development in conjunction with the Special Education Regional Technical Assistance Centers and Early Childhood Regional Training Centers as assigned. 
  • Compete the required assessments/data compilation in KATC and/or UofL data software systems that reports the work being performed. 
  • Provides training at events that support service providers, families, and autistics. 
  • Collaborate with other systems of supports for autistics to promote the work of KATC and the work of others. 
  • Maintains knowledge of current research-based practices in autism and incorporates this information in professional development and information dissemination. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years-experience working with autistic individuals and in developing programs. 
  • Experience collaborating with other service agencies in the development and implementation of programs for autistic people. 
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based programs for autism.  Knowledge and experience in implementing and promoting the use of with assistive technology. 
  • Advanced training in TEACCH and related programs (specializing in meeting the communication needs) to support the needs of autistic individuals.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with others at KATC and partner agencies/ groups to build a community of collaboration and growth for all. 
  • Effectively manages time and travel to efficiently accomplish the work that needs to be completed. 
Target Compensation Maximum: $87,300

Target Compensation Minimum: $58,200

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
