The Office of Technology and Digital Innovation’s (OTDI) Enterprise Networking team is responsible for the network services and communications infrastructure that supports teaching, learning, work, and research at The Ohio State University. The Field Services Supervisor serves as the operations leader for network installation and repair of cabling and voice/video/data endpoints that comprise the OTDI service portfolio. The core goals of this role are to:

  • Provide tactical leadership through daily and weekly planning of installation and repair activities

  • Engage with customers to ensure setting and meeting of expectations

  • Supervise and develop a large and diverse team of technicians and specialists

To achieve these goals, the Field Services Supervisor responsibilities include:

  • Service Operations: The Supervisor is empowered and accountable for the daily activities of the Field Services team. This is accomplished through administration of policies, execution of procedures, and timely resolution of incidents and service requests.

  • Customer Service: Developing trusting relationships with Ohio State customers to identify opportunities for continuously improving installation and repair services. Additionally, the Supervisor ensures all team members consistently represent OTDI and its values of respect, innovation, partnership, trust, and diversity.

  • Servant Leadership: People are the most important asset to our organization, and as such, significant focus is placed on the growth and well-being of our employees. The Supervisor cultivates talent, sets team performance objectives, guides professional development, and provides and solicits timely coaching and feedback to high-performing, high-functioning team members.

  • Resource Stewardship: Identifying efficient and cost-effective solutions, processes, and methods to ensure responsible use of university time and materials.

  • Infrastructure Integrity: The campus network is one of the most critical and foundational services at Ohio State and requires persistent evaluation of the security and dependability of network infrastructure. The Supervisor ensures installations and repairs are performed safely, cleanly, and in accordance with Division 27 specifications.


Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's level degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications

Required


  • Three (3) or more years of telecommunications experience

  • Two (2) years supervisory experience or two (2) years of experience leading within a team

  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on continuous service improvement

  • Proven methods for organizing multiple and competing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Desired


  • Four (4) years of experience supervising staff, including delegation, development, training, and coaching

  • Strong knowledge of BICSI and NEC codes and Division 27 specifications

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with inside plant communication systems, including fiber, coax, copper, and wireless

  • Proficiency with ITIL processes and good practices

  • Working knowledge of local area network technologies (e.g., switching, routing, Wi-Fi) and operating systems

This position maps to Information Technology, Unified Communications, Managerial, and M1.



Additional Information:

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $62,700 to $83,600.

We are looking for a passionate and driven Supervisor focused on managing the day-to-day operations of OTDI Enterprise Networking’s Field Services team. This position will be integral in helping lead the installation and repair of cabling infrastructure and tens of thousands of voice, video, and data endpoints that provide modern user experiences to students, faculty, staff, and visitors across six campuses and over 100 satellite offices within the state of Ohio and beyond!
