Summary of Duties:

The Field Director position responsibilities include programmatic development, participating broadly in developing the social work curriculum and teaching undergraduate level courses. The Field Director is expected to initiate and contribute to all accreditation requirements from CSWE for field education, as well as assisting with the new degree proposal process at the university. They will also have an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in health sciences across the WSU system.

The College of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing to over 1,000 students system-wide at campuses and satellites in Spokane, Vancouver, Tri-Cities, and Yakima. News and World report consistently ranks our graduate programs among the top 40 in the U.S. with our DNP program currently ranked as #28 and our MN program ranked as 39. Our BSN pre-licensure program graduates more than 280 students annually and is the top producer of RNs in Washington. Our alumni and faculty are recognized for their contributions to research and scholarship, clinical practice, service, and leadership at local, regional, state, and national levels. Required Qualifications – Teaching Assistant, Associate or Full Professor:

An earned Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW)

  • A minimum of two years of full-time practice post master’s degree

  • Candidates must have and maintain an independent clinical social worker license in Washington State holding a MSW from a CSWE accredited institution by time of hire. Those who are eligible for licensure in Washington State within 6 months will be considered.

  • Demonstrated excellent communication abilities in written and verbal forms.

  • Demonstrated service experience in one or more of the following: in academia, in professional organizations, agencies or in their communities.

  • Proven or potential for successful teaching and instruction. 

Additional Required Qualifications for Teaching Associate or Full professor ranks:

  • Currently serving in the rank of an Associate or Full Professor or equivalent at a post-secondary institution.

Required Qualifications – Clinical Assistant, Associate or Full Professor:

An earned Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW)

  • An earned PhD, DSW or doctoral degree in social work or related field

  • A minimum of two years of full-time practice post master’s degree

  • Candidates must have and maintain an independent clinical social worker license in Washington State holding a MSW from a CSWE accredited institution by time of hire. Those who are eligible for licensure in Washington State within 6 months will be considered.

  • Ideally, candidates will reflect the teacher-scholar model with demonstrated passion for teaching and enthusiasm for research that involves undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Demonstrated experience managing field experiences for undergraduate social work programs.

Position Type:

This is a full-time, continuous, career-track faculty position with a 12-month renewable administrative appointment at the Washington State University Tri-Cities campus in Richland, WA. The initial appointment for the administrative role is one year. Please note that all faculty positions with administrative roles are fixed term and renewable as outlined in the Faculty Manual.

Annual Salary:

Clinical or Teaching Career-Track:  $81,625.00 - $102,125.00 per 12-month annual.  This salary includes an annual stipend for administrative duties.  Salary is commensurate with career track faculty rank, qualifications, and experience.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
