Job Description
ECU Department of Campus recreation and Wellness is currently seeking several Well-Being Ambassadors/Well-Being Coaches.

Well-Being Ambassador duties include:
·Exhibit an understanding and knowledge of ECU, Well-Being Collective, and Campus Recreation and Wellness (CRW) programs, operations, organizational structure, and standard policies and procedures.
· Provide a world class member experience within a comprehensive well-being program aligning with the five (5) essential elements of well-being: career, social, financial, physical, community.
· Deliver and present on various public health content and programs including alcohol & other drugs, mental health & stress management, sexual health & healthy relationships, nutrition & body image, and overall well-being related topics to constituents both on and off campus.
· Research, create, and copywrite well-being related content for digital and print media.
· Create educational content, programs, and support aligning with the program indicators of discover, explore, and live.
· Actively seek out and/or create innovative methods to introduce well-being to the campus community.
· Serve as an active team member on one or more well-being related events and programs (i.e. Fresh Check Day, Peace.Love.Pirates.Cure, Pledge Purple, Pleasure Principle, My Pirate Body, 4 What’s Next, American Heart Walk, Pirates Versus Cancer, etc)
· Understand and utilize any software applications and programs necessary in accordance with protocols and operations.
· Solicit and incorporate feedback from a variety of sources (e.g., participants, peers, supervisors, self) to enhance professionalism and future experiences.
· Enhance competency by using credible resources, attending in-services, and focusing on professional development.
· Use appropriate verbal and nonverbal communication techniques when interacting with or answering questions from members and guests.
· Adapt and accommodate a large spectrum of individual personality styles and differences in backgrounds when building rapport and providing assistance to members and guests.
· Other duties as assigned.
Well-Being Coach duties includes:
·Establish rapport with clients using effective communication strategies to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
·Help clients take responsibility for personal health by identifying strengths, challenges, and available resources to make healthful lifestyle choices.
·Facilitate client-directed behavior change using evidence-based coaching strategies to promote healthful lifestyle choices.
· Use available health, medical, wellness, and lifestyle information by employing appropriate assessment tools and standards to stratify risk, identify the need for medical clearance and referrals, establish baselines and facilitate plan development.
· Design individualized plans based on interviews, screenings, assessment data, and goals to progress clients toward healthful lifestyle management.
· Implement individualized plans using evidence-based coaching practices to progress clients toward healthful lifestyle and behavior change.
· Evaluate plan effectiveness in collaboration with clients to monitor outcomes and support progress toward goals.
· Collaborate with clients to adjust plans based on ongoing evaluations to promote adherence, personal responsibility, and success.
· Adhere to legal requirements, the Code of Ethics, and scope-of-practice guidelines to protect clients, maintain professional standards, and manage risk.
· Maintain accurate and confidential records using applicable standards to ensure quality care and manage risk.
· Respond to emergencies and high-risk situations following established protocols to ensure safety and reduce liability.
· Maintain professional competence by staying current on research, technology, and industry standards to build proficiency as a health coach and optimize client outcomes.
· Create an inclusive environment by developing awareness of, and demonstrating sensitivity to, diverse populations.
· Solicit and incorporate feedback from a variety of sources (e.g., participants, peers, supervisors, self) to enhance professionalism and future experiences.
· Other duties as assigned.
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Well-Being Ambassadors:
· Must be a current ECU student in good academic standing.
· Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification and blood-borne pathogens training within 60 days of hire.
· NASPA Certified Peer Educator training within 60 days of hire.
·Completion of HLTH 1000 or other health related courses.
· Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office365.
· Ability to work independently and as a team for a minimum of 5-12 hours per week.
· Flexible work availability required included but not limited to the early morning, nights, weekends, holidays, and ECU sanctioned breaks.
Well-Being Coaches:
· Must be a current ECU student in good academic standing.
· Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification and blood-borne pathogens training within 60 days of hire.
· NASPA Certified Peer Educator training within 60 days of hire.
· NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies) accredited health and/or well-being certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
