POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Health Care Research at the Florida Center for Nursing (FCN) holds a leadership role. Their responsibilities encompass sophisticated scientific and information assessments pertaining to the nursing and health care workforce. This entails designing, developing, and implementing diverse research endeavors to identify appropriate methodologies, information sources, and data collection tools. Furthermore, the incumbent is charged with drafting technical reports that contribute to organizational decision-making processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership: Lead FCN's research strategy, providing supervision to talented staff and offering expert guidance on research studies.

Collaboration with Executive Director: Work closely with the executive director on a diverse range of studies, contributing your expertise to shape their direction.

  • Data Analysis: Dive into state-level workforce trends, leveraging data from both public and private sectors. Your insights will drive evidence-based decision-making.
  • Data Visualization: Utilize cutting-edge software tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft, and Python to create compelling data visualizations. These visuals will enhance our analytic capabilities and facilitate effective reporting.
  • Ethical Research Practices: Ensure that all research studies adhere to ethical and scientifically rigorous standards. From project proposals to reports and manuscripts, your attention to detail will be critical.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with FCN staff and external partners to foster collaboration and generate impactful ideas.
  • Team Projects: Participate in team projects aimed at enhancing policies and achieving our organization's mission and vision.

Innovation: Contribute to innovative approaches that drive positive outcomes and propel FCN forward.
Support the executive director in effectively sharing research findings with both internal and external audiences through well-crafted reports, publications, and oral presentations.
Collaborative Team Member who thrives on building connections and fostering positive relationships to include:

  • Mentoring and Support: You'll mentor both new and existing co-workers, ensuring a smooth transition and fostering growth.
  • Bridge Building: Create bridges between teams and individuals, promoting collaboration and synergy across the organization and State of Florida programs.
  • Representation: Serve as a representative of FCN on committees and boards, advocating for our mission and vision.
  • Compliance Champion: Ensure adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and organizational policies. This includes compliance with guidelines set by our host institution, USF.


Fiscal accountability: Drive project success by implementing effective strategic financial practices. This involves ensuring fiscal responsibility through meticulous budget creation for projects, crafting robust financial plans, creating detailed study timelines, closely collaborating with the budget team to monitor expenditures, and consistently meeting target deadlines
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Requires a Master's in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of 7 years of related exempt level experience, including 5 years of managerial experience.  Experience leading a team, project, or program.
Must have be a Registered Nurse with compact license to include an active Florida licensure.
PREFERRED:
Master's degree in nursing. PhD or PhD candidacy preferred. Nursing specialty certification, Public Health Nurse (PHN) Certification, Instructional Design Technology, Lean Six Sigma Certifications preferred. Familiarity with professional licensing data; experience with statistical software, R, Tableau, Python, or SQL; experience data cleaning; demonstrated complex ideas in simple language to a diverse audience; ability to build and maintain working relationships internally and externally; experience with writing documents and scientific articles; articulate in written and oral media.
