Job Description:

This 10 month position's primary function is to provide healthcare services within the scope of practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner to the diverse student population, at the Wellness Center, an integrated Health, Counseling & Health Promotion center.  Following patient care protocols, duties include: managing uncomplicated, acute illnesses, injuries and chronic health problems, conduct health histories and physical exams, laboratory tests related work (prescribe, review, treat, etc.), identify health related concerns/issues, refer to physicians or specialists as needed, provide health counseling, prescribe and administer medications, provide first aid and emergency care in the Wellness Center.  Prepare timely written records and reports, and follow up on medical problems and abnormal findings.  Work closely with the students' primary care physician, specialists & other on-campus and off campus contacts to ensure necessary health care for academic success. Works closely with departmental and interdepartmental Administration in quality improvement activities and public health issues on identified. Provide in-office and tele-health services for students.  The primary location of this position is in Utica with travel to other operating locations possible. 

Assist in developing and maintaining office policy and procedure for improved student healthcare. Maintain minimum office functions in the absence of the Director.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

Master's Degree from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization from school of nursing as an FNP.  Current New York State Department of Education issued FNP & RN certificate, and at least 3-5 years recent clinical nursing experience as an FNP, with the ability to work independently.

Provide leadership, oversight and direction to direct reports to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies.  Design and implement operating strategies, plans and procedures to assure smooth functioning of SUNY Poly's Health and Wellness Center.   Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication. Complete performance management feedback and goals per requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Clinical experience with the college age population is desired. Computer competencies regarding Electronic Medical Record systems.
