Position Announcement

The Department of History and Political Science at Utah Valley University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Public and Religious History, Modern U.S. (Utah focus preferred) beginning in Fall 2024. Experience and established connections with regional and state public and digital history initiatives desired. The position is a nine-month appointment with a 4/4 teaching load. During the academic year, the successful candidate will teach lower-division surveys in U.S. Economic and Modern U.S. history, an upper-division course in Public and Digital History, courses in their areas of specialization, and possibly Utah history. Candidates must have experience teaching in a college or university setting and show evidence of commitment to engaged teaching, active scholarship in public and digital history, and service.
The application must include a cover letter, CV, graduate transcript, writing sample, teaching statement, and last three years of student evaluations (if available). Ph.D. in History must be completed by the date of appointment. The search committee expects to conduct first-round interviews online in early April.
 
UVU serves approximately 43,000 students and is located on the western front of the Wasatch Mountains in Orem, Utah, 45 miles south of Salt Lake City.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Ph.D. in a directly related field.
 
Preferred:
Ph.D. in Modern US History must be completed by date of appointment.
