Grand Canyon University is currently seeking a 9-month, full-time faculty member to support and shape the bright futures of Grand Canyon University students.  Be part of a team defining best practices in statistics and mathematics pedagogy, researching Scholarship in Teaching and Learning, and impacting the future of statistics and mathematics understanding through innovative pedagogy and mentorship of students pursuing a pre-nursing degree or a degree in mathematics for secondary education.

Please note, this is a 9-month full time faculty position based at our main campus in Phoenix, AZ.

What you will do:

  • Teaches four undergraduate statistics courses per semester through a Christian lens.

  • Stays current on topics and practices related to the discipline and best practices in pedagogy.

  • Assists administration in driving curriculum design & development. Works with University leadership on strategic planning initiatives advancing mathematics education and pedagogy.

  • Assists students outside classroom hours. Develops and administers forward-thinking short and long term learning plans for students’ development and growth.

  • Manages assigned resources including the budgets.

  • Mentors undergraduate majors in mathematics for secondary education, humanities, pre-nursing, and social science.

  • Fosters and promotes diversity and collegiality among faculty, students, and staff and is an advocate for change.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with professional contacts to support internship programs, project collaborations and mentoring.

  • Actively participates on college and/or university committees.

  • Willingness to assume other duties as assigned.

What you need:

  • Master’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, mathematics, or similar, from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate credits in statistics and mathematics.

  • Minimum of 2 years' higher education teaching experience. Experience teaching statistics preferred.

  • Ability to learn and use learning management system and mathematical software, such as Mathematica, ALEKS, MATLAB, or Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values-based education from a Christian perspective.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Bonus:

  • Doctoral degree in statistics, applied mathematics, mathematics, or similar, from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate credits in statistics and mathematics.

  • Experience with curriculum development and planning.

  • Understands various methods of adult learning and has executed changes in curriculum both in online and classroom to enrich and aid in student learning outcomes.

  • Desire to integrate mathematical modeling principles into undergraduate mathematics courses.
