The Department of Biological Sciences at East Tennessee State University invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Faculty Research Assistant limited term appointment with expertise in Plant Lipid Biochemistry and specialization in Oil Biosynthesis. This is a unique opportunity to join the cutting-edge research team led by Dr. Aruna Kilaru in the exploration of plant lipid metabolism and oil biosynthesis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in plant lipid biochemistry and oil biosynthesis research methodologies.
  • Ability to conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and troubleshoot technical issues.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform laboratory tasks for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and precision are required for laboratory work.
  • Ability to lift and carry laboratory equipment and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity and color perception are necessary for accurate data analysis.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work schedules and research demands.
  • Requires travel to conferences and collaborative meetings.
Required Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Plant Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with a strong background in plant lipid biochemistry and oil biosynthesis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in laboratory techniques related to plant lipid analysis, lipidomics, and oil biosynthesis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous research experience in plant lipid metabolism and oil biosynthesis.
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant scientific journals.
  • Familiarity with grant proposal writing and securing research funding.
