Med-Pharmacology and Chemical Biology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23002025)
 

A research laboratory located at the Department of Pharmacology & Chemical Biology (www.pharmacology.us ) and funded by the NIH is seeking candidates for a Research Assistant Professor position to work on a research project in the area of “calcium signaling in physiology and disease”.  The project focuses on understanding the mechanisms of calcium channel regulation and cellular signaling by calcium to transcriptional and metabolic function in a number of primary cell types and organ systems. The laboratory uses transgenic and knockout mouse models to understand the contribution of ion channel proteins to physiological function and disease progression.

The conditions are a minimum one-year commitment, high motivation, and interest in joining an interdisciplinary research team. We have weekly group lab meetings and a focused journal club. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in any area of Biology, with training experience in either Genetics, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Electrophysiology, Microscopy, Cellular Signaling, Physiology, Pharmacology, and/or Animal Models of Disease. A strong training experience in Fluorescence Imaging and/or Patch Clamp Electrophysiology is desirable. The candidate is expected to have excellent teamwork and communication skills.
