The Department of Pharmacy & Therapeutics of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is accepting applications for the position of full-time Tenured or Tenure-Stream Professor/Associate Professor & Director of the Program Evaluation Research Unit (PERU).  The staff and faculty in PERU are focused on program development and research in four primary areas: substance use disorder education and research; opioid use disorder prevention, intervention, and treatment; medication adherence; and organization health for healthcare systems. The school is seeking a motivated and innovative faculty member to lead the highly successful PERU research that facilitates each patient or community member’s ability to achieve optimal health, well-being, recovery, and choice. The Director is responsible for advancing scientific discovery and implementation, education, and collaborations with other University of Pittsburgh Schools, community organizations, federal/state/local agencies, and partners.   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:
·       Hold a Ph.D. or Doctor of Pharmacy (or equivalent terminal degree) with strong academic credentials and have a distinguished record of research, teaching, and service sufficient to be appointed as a tenured or tenure-stream Associate Professor or Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. The school and university procedures for appointment will be followed. Example criteria for promotion and tenure include but are not limited to peer-reviewed publications that reflect intellectual leadership and impact in areas that advance the mission of the school, quality teaching and contributions to the teaching mission of the school, national recognition by peers, evidence of independence with indication of originality, and likelihood of continued funding. ·       The director is expected to develop and sustain a research program with extramural funding as well as assume leadership of the School’s Program Evaluation Research Unit (PERU).

·       Significant leadership experience in research and/or higher education.

·       Expertise in one or more of the following areas:  comparative effectiveness research, substance use disorder treatment/prevention/intervention, health services research, implementation science applications in health care, behavioral aspects of medication use, general health outcomes, health care policy, pharmacoepidemiology, population health, public health, healthcare communication, health economics, strategic and financial planning or leadership, and human resources management.

·       Commitment to teaching in the curricular programs of the school and responsibility for mentoring students and post-graduate learners.

·       Have a deep commitment to develop meaningful collaborations with other researchers within the School of Pharmacy, the Schools of Medicine, Public Health, and other schools and organizations. 

·       A demonstrated record in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion activities in research, teaching, and/or service.

·       Demonstrated commitment to our school’s values of professionalism, integrity, teamwork, trust, passion, health equity, accountability, responsibility, and mutual respect.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       An outstanding track record of expertise as shown by extramural funding, publications, mentoring, engagement, and leadership in pharmacy, public health, epidemiology, substance use disorder, or health services research or related fields (candidates with other backgrounds and experiences will be considered).

·       A strong background in the development and oversight of educational programs to train the next generation of scientists, pharmacists, and/or other healthcare research professionals.

·       A consistent record of successful leadership, fiscal and program management, and fundraising.

·       A strategic vision for short- and long-term development of PERU that supports the goals of current faculty and staff, the School of Pharmacy, and the University of Pittsburgh.

·       Experience in conducting research with the Veteran’s Health Administration and the Defense Health Administration.

·       Proven success in mentoring and training junior faculty members to support success including competitive funding and promotion.

·       Demonstrated success in leading large groups through delegation, communication, and accountability for academic and scientific achievement.

·       Extensive experience in creating a collaborative, positive and productive work environment for all faculty, staff, trainees, and partners.

The Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics is home to the Grace Lamsam Pharmacy Program for the Underserved, Community Leadership and Innovation in Practice, Program Evaluation Research Unit, and Pharmacogenomics Center of Excellence.  In partnership with UPMC, the department is home to twelve accredited residency programs, plus twelve pharmacy fellowship training programs.
