The Department of Medicine, Division of Internal General Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is currently seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank to serve as the Associate Program Director for Ambulatory Education for the UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program. 


Known as a division equally strong in clinical research and medical education, our clinician educators enjoy ongoing faculty development in medical education, strong mentorship, and internal funding to pursue education projects. Candidates must be able to work cooperatively with a diverse group of professionals as we are actively leading efforts aimed at improving diversity and equity in academic medicine and medical education within the Section of Med-Peds, Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM), and at the institutional level. Helping our entire faculty and all our trainees identify and achieve their professional goals is a top priority. 


Strongest consideration will be given to candidates who have fellowship or other advanced training in medical education, an MPH or MS in medical education (or similar), and/or significant medical education leadership experience.  
Role Responsibilities as Associate Program Director for Ambulatory Education Include: 
•    Teaching and Curriculum Development: Work closely with the PD and chief residents to coordinate and implement the ambulatory curriculum including preclinic conferences, ambulatory rotations as well as elective rotations at the Med-Peds Turtle Creek clinical site.
•    Leadership: Collaborate across categorical IM, Pediatrics, and Med-Peds programs.
•    Accreditation: Ensure that ambulatory time meets ACGME requirements for combined training 
•    Residency recruitment: Collaborate with the PD and APD for Inpatient Education on recruitment of students to the residency program. 
•    Mentorship: Serve as a primary mentor for Med-Peds residents as well as serve as a resource for residents interested in ambulatory generalist practice.


Candidates should also be interested in providing direct primary care as well as precepting at our Med-Peds clinical site in Turtle Creek, PA and at our hospital-based internal medicine clinic. DGIM hosts one of the few primary care homes for adults with developmental disabilities and/or medical complexity and would welcome an individual with Med-Peds training to join three other colleagues in caring for this underserved population.  Opportunities to work with house staff and students in the inpatient setting are also available. 

Qualified candidates must have an MD or DO or equivalent clinical degree be board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and meet the criteria for academic appointment at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
