The Department of Medicine's Renal-Electrolyte Division at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC is hiring! Clinical work is located at urban academic referral hospitals for general inpatient work (UPMC Presbyterian, Magee-Womens Hospital, Shadyside, and Mercy) and multiple academic clinics throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. 

We are seeking nephrologists to serve as Clinician Educators, responsible for both patient care and teaching fellows, medical students, and internal medicine residents in the outpatient and inpatient settings. Clinical work is located at urban academic referral hospitals for general inpatient work (UPMC Presbyterian, Magee-Womens' Hospital, Shadyside, and Mercy) and multiple academic clinics throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. Throughout our practices, we care for a diverse population of patients. Candidate should be Board-certified in Internal Medicine, and Nephrology, and should maintain an active PA MD/DO license.

Our clinician educators enjoy ongoing faculty development in medical education, strong mentorship, and internal funding to pursue education projects. The majority of our Clinician-Educators receive compensation for the non-clinical effort to develop and teach curricula and run educational programs at the UME, GME, and/or CME levels. We are actively leading efforts aimed at improving diversity and equity in academic medicine and medical education within the Renal-Electrolyte Division, Department of Medicine, and at the institutional level. Helping our entire faculty and all our trainees identify and achieve their professional goals is a top priority.

General rank requirements: An assistant professor should have demonstrated teaching ability, experience in advanced study and research, or professional experience of a kind that would enable them to make an academic contribution. The assistant professor should possess a doctoral or appropriate professional degree (MD or DO). They should exhibit promise of originality and excellence in some field of scholarship and should have demonstrated ability in guiding and counseling students. To be appointed or promoted to an assistant professorship, a person should have the potential for promotion to associate professor.
