Job description

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh  and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC ) are seeking statistics and biostatistics researchers for full-time faculty positions. Candidates who are interested in conducting their own funded independent research (applied and/or methodological developments in Psychiatry and related disciplines) are sought. The successful candidates will also engage in statistical collaborations with clinical/scientific investigators who direct internationally recognized research programs in multiple domains of psychiatry.  We are seeking candidates with a wide range of expertise including, but not limited to, methods in genetics/transcriptomics, ecological momentary assessment, high dimensional data analysis, structural equation modeling, item response theory and/or complex or adaptive clinical trial designs. Because growth is sought in these areas and resources are available, multiple positions are open at the assistant and associate levels. Primary selection criteria are history of productivity and collaboration and the ability to enhance an interactive and dynamic research community within and across departments in the greater Pittsburgh academic environment.

Successful candidates will be provided with resources and support to successfully develop their careers. They will join a vibrant and highly collaborative research community with a long history of excellence in basic, translational, and clinical research.

Our Department seeks to be an inclusive and safe space for all who work here. We value diversity and are committed to rectifying longstanding inequities within research and academia. Thus, women, minorities, veterans, and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics or related field
  • Demonstrated interest in psychiatry research (e.g., as shown through peer review publications).
  • Success in authoring original research and review articles in refereed journals. The quality of the journals themselves and the position of authorship will be considered.
  • Success in securing federal funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or other sources (such as state and foundation funding).
  • Demonstrated research skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a rapidly changing/growing educational institution
