Faculty Position – Translational Researcher, Department of Medicine

The Department of Medicine in the University of Connecticut School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding investigator for a tenure-track or tenured position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Candidates with experience in translational research in the areas of metabolism, nutrition, obesity, inflammation, or muscle physiology with a track record of collaborative, multidisciplinary research are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will have an excellent publication record providing strong evidence for independent and innovative research. A track record of collaborative research across disciplines within the space of internal medicine and its subspecialties is considered a major attribute for this position. Extramural funding is expected for individuals applying at the Associate Professor level. Minimal qualifications include an MD (or equivalent) and/or PhD degree with post-graduate research training. While research is expected to occupy most of the individual's effort, contribution to the Department's teaching activities will be expected. Opportunities for clinical activity will be available for physician-scientists.

The Department of Medicine has recognized research strengths in metabolism, endocrinology, nephrology, bone biology, microbiome science, and microbiology. A state-of-the-art whole room indirect calorimeter will be available for human studies. Mouse phenotyping facilities including micro-CT and Comprehensive Lab Animal Monitoring System (CLAMS) are available. Additional resources include flow cytometry, imaging, and single cell sequencing core facilities. Collaborative opportunities are available with investigators across Campus. The proximity of the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine on the UConn Health campus and investigators on the main campus of the University of Connecticut at Storrs offer additional excellent opportunities for program development and collaboration.
