Occupational Therapy Program

Faculty Position – Oklahoma City Campus

 

Title and Rank: Consecutive term, Assistant Professor or above

 

Responsibilities: Supports the development of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences through teaching, research/scholarship and service activities.

Salary:   Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Job Description:

Teaching:

  • Teach and participate in development, implementation and evaluation of the interprofessional Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy,  and Doctor of Science curricula.
  • Actively participate in the OTD curriculum design and accreditation process.
  • Student advisement and mentoring.
  • Supervision of students in the campus interprofessional education programs.
  • Support and promote a collaborative and positive learning environment for students.
  • Work closely with the Occupational Therapy Program Director to ensure courses aligned with curriculum design and to measure student outcomes.  
  • Deliver innovative and evidence-based teaching strategies.
  •  

    Research/ Scholarship:

  • Participate and maintain a consistent record of scholarly activities related to interprofessional practice, occupational therapy, and/or education.
  • Mentor students in capstone, scholarly and community projects.
  • Active member in pursuing, creating, implementing and evaluating educational training grant activities that support the Doctor of Science program.
  •  

    Service:

  • Participate in University, College, Department, and Program committees.
  • Participate in and supervise clinical service activities that support the mission of the institution. 
  • Participate in the development of innovative and interprofessional outreach programs.
  • Record of involvement in AOTA, OKOTA, and other professional associations.
  •

    Job Requirements

    Required Qualifications:

     

    • Occupational Therapist with an earned entry level OTD or post-professional doctoral degree or an Occupational Therapist with a Master’s degree who is already accepted into an accredited post-professional doctoral program to be completed by 2023.
    • Candidate must be licensed in Oklahoma or meet all eligibility requirements for Oklahoma Occupational Therapy licensure.  
    • Commitment to and alignment with our values of innovation, excellence, collaboration, interprofessionalism, compassion, and investment in diversity, equity and inclusion; contributes positively to team dynamics across students, OU employees and community partners.
    • The successful candidate will contribute to interprofessional teaching and research/scholarship across academic programs in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences with an emphasis on the interprofessional occupational therapy, physical therapy, and post-professional Doctor of Science programs.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

     

    • Post Professional degree completed (e.g., PhD, EdD, DSc, DrPH, OTD)
    • Experience with promoting social justice, eliminating health disparities, or building an inclusive environment for all. 
    • Contemporary knowledge in the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, occupational therapy theory, and practice models.
    • 3-5 Years of teaching experience in an academic setting
    • 3-5 Years of clinical experience.
    • Experience with educational training grants
    • Evidence of research/scholarly contributions to the profession (i.e. presentations and/or publications at local, state or national level).
    • Educational, clinical or research experience in pediatrics across diverse practice settings (e.g., hospital, schools, early intervention), assistive technology and leadership/management.
    • Evidence of innovative solutions in teaching, practice, or research.
    • Record of involvement in professional associations
    • Demonstrates effective communication skills through engagement and reflection.
    • Experience in distance technology and learning management platforms.
    • Strong computer skills and openness to new technologies.
