Basic Function:

 The College of Aeronautics and Engineering at Kent State University (KSU) invites candidates to apply for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank or Lecturer/Associate Lecturer rank in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, and related disciplines for a start date of Fall 2024. Of particular interest for this teaching position is a candidate with background in one or more of the following areas: controls; automation; robotics; circuits and electronics; and programmable logic controllers.

The College of Aeronautics and Engineering has been rapidly growing, with the launch of new programs, growth in our engineering and engineering technology enrollment, and the opening of a new state-of-the-industry building expansion, hosting over 40,000 square feet of new labs, teaching spaces, and collaborative spaces. Our mechatronics engineering and mechatronics engineering technology programs are ABET accredited and are seeing tremendous demand and growth. The college is hiring multiple faculty members in the next few years in key areas, including mechatronics engineering.

The College of Aeronautics and Engineering seeks candidates who have a passion for student success and who are committed to our Student’s First principles as a university and college. We seek candidates who can demonstrate teaching excellence, the ability to teach across a variety of formats, the desire and ability to develop and teach new courses, and the knowledge to provide input on curricular changes to ensure our students are competitive and prepared for their careers.

While this career-track appointment is a non-tenure track position, opportunities exist to engage in research. Candidates should include such interest in their letter of application.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

M.S. degree at the time of hire in mechatronics engineering, electrical engineering, robotics engineering, controls engineering, or related field.           

Demonstrated skills in communication, both oral and written, including ability to convey complex technical concepts in an understandable manner with clear instructions.          

Demonstrated history of professionalism in their interactions with students, colleagues, and/or industry partners.

 

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

A doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.) in a relevant field of study.           

Demonstrated experience in innovative teaching methods, including online learning.           

Relevant industry experience.           

Previous teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate levels.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

 Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
