The School of Emerging Media and Technology and College of Communication and Information at Kent State University invites applications for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Lecturer in emerging media and technology.

This position will be a joint appointment between the School of Emerging Media and Technology (https://www.kent.edu/emat), and the College of Communication and Information (CCI).

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

This new faculty member will teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs introducing students to web programming/development. We are particularly interested in candidates with knowledge and expertise using JavaScript, React, and HTML/CSS and who apply these skills in any of the following contexts: web design and development, immersive storytelling (VR/AR), new media art, digital cultures, mobile development, user experience design, artificial/augmented intelligence, computational social science, data science, informatics, human robot/machine interaction, developing online communities and digital discussion.

Minimum Qualifications:

 A terminal degree in a related discipline or a minimum of 8 years professional experience related to the candidate’s field of expertise. The successful candidate will have evidence of teaching excellence, if the candidate has prior university teaching experience; and a willingness and ability to advise, mentor, and teach undergraduate and graduate students.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

 Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
