We are seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position teaching undergraduate communications to the general education population. As a full-time faculty member, you’ll provide program instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. You will also have the opportunity to work at a thriving diverse campus and with online student populations. Please note, this is a 9-month full-time faculty starting in August 2024 and based at our main campus in Phoenix, AZ.

What you will do:

• Teaches four undergraduate communications courses within the communications major through a Christian lens. Course focus is interpersonal and workplace communications.

• Assists students outside classroom hours.

• Stays current on topics and practices related to the discipline and best practices in pedagogy.

• Assists administration in driving curriculum design & development.

• Works with University leadership on strategic planning initiatives advancing mathematics education and pedagogy.

• Develops and administers forward-thinking short- and long-term learning plans for students’ development and growth.

• Manages assigned resources including the budgets.

• Mentors undergraduate majors in mathematics for secondary education, humanities, pre-nursing, and social science.

• Fosters and promotes diversity and collegiality among faculty, students, and staff and is an advocate for change.

• Develops and maintains relationships with professional contacts to support internship programs, project collaborations and mentoring.

• Actively participates on college and/or university committees.

• Willingness to assume other duties as assigned.

What you need:

• Master’s degree in communications with an emphasis in interpersonal and workplace communications.

• Academic and/or professional background in interpersonal/workplace communications.

• Minimum of 2 years' higher education teaching experience. Experience teaching communications preferred.

• Familiarity with web enhanced instructional tools such as Canvas/Blackboard/WebCT.

• Ability to articulate a clear understanding of values-based education from a Christian perspective.

• Demonstrated teamwork, self-motivation, integrity, and commitment to maintain high professional standards.

• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Bonus:

• Doctoral degree in communications, or similar, from a regionally accredited institution.

• Academic and professional background in interpersonal and workplace communications.

• Experience with curriculum development and planning.

• Understands various methods of adult learning and has executed changes in curriculum both in online and classroom to enrich and aid in student learning outcomes.

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching across multiple modalities.
