DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
The Mathematics Department at MIT is seeking to fill positions in Pure and Applied Mathematics at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor or higher beginning July 1, 2027 (for the 2027-2028 academic year, or as soon thereafter as possible). Appointments are based primarily on exceptional research qualifications. Appointees will be required to fulfill teaching duties and pursue their own research program. PhD in Mathematics or related field required by employment start date.

Pay Range for a 9-month academic appointment for an entry-level Assistant Professor (excluding summer salary) is $143,000 to $154,000. MIT provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the Institute reasonably expects to pay for a full time position at the time of posting. The pay offered to a selected candidate during hiring will be based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience and education/training, internal peer equity, and applicable legal requirements. This pay range represents base pay only and does not include any other benefits or compensation.
