Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise & Nutrition Sciences is searching for a full-time faculty member who will contribute to the department’s teaching, service, and research missions.  This is a 9-Month per year Educator Track position with rank commensurate with education and experience.


Essential Functions

The responsibilities of this position are:

  • Teaching and service to the Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise & Nutrition Sciences (RENS) and College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS).
  • Primary responsibility of the position is instruction in the Master of Science in Athletic Training program. 
  • Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, course development, participation in student recruitment, retention, and admissions activities, and course instruction in other programs in the department.
  • Participation in program committee work including program evaluation, accreditation tasks, and other activities as assigned by Department Chair or Program Director, as well as service and scholarship activities are also required. 
  • These requirements will be consistent with faculty evaluative criteria and the missions of the University, College, and Department.

Minimum Requirements
  • Athletic Training BOC Certification and Ohio Athletic Training license (or Ohio eligible).
  • An earned terminal degree (i.e., PhD, EdD, DSc, DHSc, DAT, DPT, etc.) or degree completion scheduled prior to hire date (anticipated August 15, 2023).
  • Demonstration of college level teaching experience.
  • An equivalent of 2 or more years of relevant full-time work-related experience.
  • Direct experience in teaching Athletic Training students and/or mentoring during clinical or capstone experiences.
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems.
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, counseling, conflict management, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to assist with a variety of tasks as assigned by Department Chair or Program Director.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Documented clinical specialty certification relevant to Athletic Training practice.
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
  • Highly ideal: Contemporary expertise in neuroanatomy and neurologic assessment/rehabilitation; three years of part-time or full-time college level teaching experience relevant to professional education in Athletic Training; Multiple professional clinical credentials (i.e., ATC, PT;  ATC, PA;  ATC, RD, etc.).
