Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati’s Master of Medical Laboratory Science Leadership (MLSL) Program is searching for a full-time Educator Track  faculty member who will contribute to the department’s teaching, service and scholarship. This is a 12-month position with rank and faculty track commensurate with education and experience.

 

The UC MS-MLSL program offers a two-year program designed primarily for working adults using an asynchronous distance learning approach. The program enrolled its first students in the spring of 2021. The program has a leadership core along with concentrations in health administration and management, higher education, molecular diagnostics and cell therapy and immunohematology. The College of Allied Health Sciences is a three time awardee of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine in 2019,2020 and 2021. Essential Functions

This position is primarily responsible for teaching and service in the MS-MLSL program, the Clinical and Health Information Sciences Department and College of Allied Health Sciences. Teaching and service responsibilities include, but are not limited to, course development and curriculum assessment; primary instruction of didactic courses using online delivery modalities; leadership with and mentoring of adjunct faculty; student advising and mentoring, including capstone mentoring; service on program committees and tasks assigned. While online teaching and service are central to this position, scholarship activities are also required consistent with the mission of the program and the University.


Minimum Requirements
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Laboratory Science, medicine or other science related discipline (microbiology, biomedical health sciences, immunology, virology, biochemistry etc.) or professional Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Science.
    • Candidates currently enrolled in a terminal degree program are welcome to apply, but the doctorate must be completed prior to the start date.
  • A minimum of two years on-line distance learning teaching experience
  • Three years of experience within the field of medical laboratory science in a leadership role
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning
  • Nationally certified as a medical laboratory scientist generalist (ASCP, AMT or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Experience and/or interest in curriculum development and assessment
  • Preferred five-years of experience within medical laboratory science clinical practice
  • Prior scholarly works published or presented
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels
  • Demonstrated student mentorship experience and commitment to student success
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
