McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics (MSBMI) at UTHealth Houston is recruiting for a full-time Faculty Associate specializing in algorithm development, software development, and system integration within the context of translational AI research. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in converting advanced AI theories into applicable real-world solutions, ensuring they are user-centric and accessible.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Developing and refining software prototypes based on emerging AI theories, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user interface.
  • Collaborating with UX/UI designers to ensure the developed tools are user-friendly, adhering to the latest design trends and standards.
  • Continuously monitoring and enhancing system performance through feedback, real-world testing, and user experience metrics.
  • Engaging with cross-functional teams to understand domain-specific needs and adapt AI tools accordingly.
  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in AI, front-end technologies, and designing principles.
  • Contributing to research discussions, sharing insights on practical challenges, and recommending software-driven solutions.
  • Documenting and presenting findings, contributing to both academic and industry-focused publications. 

UTHealth Houston is in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center (TMC) located in cosmopolitan Houston, Texas, the fourth largest city in the United States. SBMI currently offers Master's and Ph.D. Degrees, along with a certificate program in biomedical and health informatics.

 

APPOINTMENTS/BENEFITS:

 

This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment, renewable every year. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Applicants should have a strong background in software development, particularly with a focus on AI-driven solutions. Demonstrable experience in system integration, optimization, and front-end development is required. Familiarity with the translational aspects of research, ensuring theoretical advancements have practical applications, is highly valued. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role.
