Job Title: Faculty and Department Chair, School Leadership & Special Populations program

Summary of Position:    The School of Integrated Learning and Development invites application for a Assistant or Associate Professor position leading the department of School Leadership and Special Populations. Responsibilities include full-time teaching in the School Leadership Programs (Building or District Level), Special Education, English as a New Language, and/or doctoral programs in the online teaching modality. Additional responsibilities include: innovative curriculum and program development, the development of partnerships with school districts, evaluation of department faculty and adjuncts, accreditation and SPA work, and committee service. Preferences will be given to candidates who have building/district level licensure, and licensure or experience in programs within the Special Populations department (Special Education, ENL). The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in innovative course and program design and delivery methods, cutting edge technology (AR, VR, AI, Metaverse, etc.), and ability to lead programs into the next generation of teacher education models (CBE, hybrids, apprenticeships, etc.).


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and willingly embraces the theological and lifestyle commitments of The Wesleyan Church 
  • Exercise mature spiritual leadership in all aspects of the department 
  • Lead the department in the creation and development of new and innovative academic offerings preparing the next generation of teachers 
  • Provide forward moving mentoring and supervision to the adjunct instructors 
  • Fulfill full time teaching load requirements within the department (and/or other graduate/doctoral degree programs as needed) 
  • Direct and oversee SPA and accreditation within the department. Ensure alignment to all states (IN, OH, etc.) standards 
  • Oversee internship and clinical experience program requirements 
  • Maintain and lead annual program reviews and advisory board meetings 
  • Achieve related/required scholarship 
  • Serve on various University and CAPS committees 
  • Seek out and secure partnerships with K-12 schools 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • A doctorate degree in Education or closely related field is required
  • Licensure (valid, but not current permissible) in Building or District Level Leadership (or equivalent from their state). Licensure (valid, but not current permissible) also in Special Education or ENL, preferred

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years P-12 teaching experience on a standard teaching license including academic credentialing and three (3) years of experience in the area of Building or District Level Leadership; also, Special Education or ENL preferred
  • Demonstrated online teaching experience at the college/university graduate level
  • Demonstrated experience in innovative curriculum writing; experience with program accreditation and SPA preferred
  • Track record of advancing the use of cutting-edge technology in creative ways in program course work and curriculum
  • Experience with CBE and apprenticeship models preferred
  • Experience with partnership development and creation of relationship pipelines
  • Grant writing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
