Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | Campus Recreation provides a diverse and intentional recreational program in a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment which enhances the social, mental, and physical well-being of the entire University community. With this mission as the focus, Campus Recreation’s program offerings include intramural sports, aquatics, sport clubs, fitness and wellness, expeditions, challenge course, open recreation, special events, climbing sports, adaptive sports, and well-being outreach. |

Position Summary | This position is located in the Campus Recreation Department within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Facility Operations Coordinator provides leadership for the daily, evening, and weekend operations of all indoor and outdoor recreation facilities. The specific indoor facilities include the Student Recreation Center, Rams Head Recreation Center, Fetzer Hall, and Woollen Gym. Hooker Fields and Finley Fields are the primary outdoor facilities. The Facility Operations Coordinator oversees all open recreation, creates and revises policies and procedures, maintains equipment, supervises facility logistics, and monitors policy enforcement and access control. The position works closely and communicates with the Member Services and Events Coordinator to ensure event and reservation schedules and logistics occur without issue or conflicts. The Facility Operations Coordinator provides on-site support and customer service for reservations, internal groups, student organizations, and external events in Campus Recreation facilities. In addition, the position coordinates on-site communication and collaboration efforts with Facilities, Services, Grounds Services, and Housekeeping Services to complete maintenance and cleaning projects for facilities. Also, Coordinator completes regular facility, safety and fitness equipment inspections and develops, maintains, and distributes facility and equipment cleaning schedules. The Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising approximately 225 Facility and Operations student employees who work across all Campus Recreation facilities. The position tracks and maintains employee records, creates staff schedules, provides instruction, creates policies and procedures, and provides on-going and annual feedback for student employees. This position also oversees equipment check-out operations, inspects equipment, and maintains inventory for all housekeeping and custodial supplies. The Coordinator reports all facility, equipment, and /or technology issues to the Senior Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations. Another primary responsibility is the creation and implementation of assessment methods to determine customer satisfaction, participant needs, and facility and equipment use patterns. This position reports to the Senior Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | * Professional experience working in facilities and/or operations management. * Exceptional organizational and customer service skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a goal-oriented team. * Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED or the ability to obtain within six months of hire. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | * Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Exercise and Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field. All degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution. Equivalent combination of training and experience accepted. * Master’s degree in Recreation, Exercise and Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field. All degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution. * At least two years of professional experience with facility and/or operations management. * At least two years of professional experience in a recreation facilities and operations setting. * Demonstrated ability to train and supervise student employee. |

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities | This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
