Job Description
General Description:
This position is responsible for managing a comprehensive building and grounds program for assigned campus. Areas managed include buildings and mechanical maintenance, ground maintenance, housekeeping and related services.
Duties and Tasks:
  • To provide managerial and supervisory guidance to the Facilities staff to ensure the proper operation of the physical plant in building
  • Responsible for Project and preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, regular maintenance, energy management systems, and contractual agreements.
  • Facility Team Leadership Project Management
  • Leads emergency operations and serve as designated employee to work during emergencies
  • Support the Project Manager to ensure successful project design and implementation.
  • Provides input for planning future budgets.
  • Provide coordination support for service contracts.
  • Provide quality control on all aspects of Facilities.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
KSAs:
  • Considerable knowledge of various construction trades and building codes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply codes and standards.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with staff, faculty, designers, and contractors.
  • Ability to identify deficiencies in building components through visual inspection and description of operational problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Knowledgeable of and follows NOVA’s Continuity of Operations Plan and Facility Department’s “Facilities Emergency Management Plan.”
  • Working knowledge of CMMS/BAS programing.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience leading facilities management teams
  • Experience reading blueprints.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance program.
  • Experience in supervising buildings & grounds team
  • Valid Driver’s License and good driving record.

  • Certifications: -CFM -FMP -PMP -VCCO
  • Experience with landscaping and turfing.
  • Experience in college campus settings
