The Office of Physical Plant, Department of Engineering Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer experienced in the design, specification, operation, and maintenance of building lighting, power, automation, controls, security, communications and fire detection systems for buildings. In addition to supporting the Electrical Engineering team within the department, the person will also be responsible for reviewing, updating and developing design and construction standards for the University's electrical systems. The successful candidate will have experience with some or all of the following: preparation of special studies, written reports and project scoping documents; review of designs for renovation and major construction projects similar to the ones undertaken at University Park and Commonwealth Campuses; coordination with design professionals, user representatives, project managers, and technical staff on requirements for new construction, renovation, repairs and corrective measures; serving as primary point of contact for design professionals during the design and construction process relative to the University's preferences and standards; checking field conditions and providing technical expertise to resolve system operational problems, deficiencies and changes that need to be made; working with trades supervisors and crews on operational and/or maintenance issues, making recommendations, and developing proposals and reports to resolve significant concerns; implementation of safety protocol and preventative maintenance procedures. This job will be filled as a level 2, level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will also be required in addition to standard background checks. Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred but not required for a Level 2.
