The Facilities Data Analyst is responsible for supporting The Ohio State Universitys Space Information and Management System (SIMS) and serves as a facilities related data analyst for the University.

The Facilities Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining and updating core space data in SIMS, The Ohio State Universitys Space Information and Management System, encompasses 1300+ buildings, 123,000+ spaces, and over 40,000,000 square feet.

  • Ensures the data accuracy for all University space through input of space assignments, onsite building audits, and capturing 360 photos of spaces.

  • Responsible for a wide range of routine and customized space related reporting.

  • Serves as a liaison between Facilities Information and Technology Services (FITS) and other University departments, consultants, vendors, external reporting agencies (AHA, HEFMA National Science Foundation, etc.) for space inventory data and SIMS related issues.

  • Manages user access to SIMS. Train end users in the use of SIMS and SIMS data.

  • Responsible for enforcing OSU space information standards.

  • Assists other University analysts with relating their data to the space data maintained in SIMS.

The Facilities Data Analyst is passionate about the quality and accuracy of our data and for helping others interpret that data through effective and meaningful reporting. Driven by a desire to help their customers make better decisions more quickly through the meaningful use of space related data. Is detail oriented and can work with large amounts of data quickly and intuitively. Position operates with a good deal of autonomy and is expected to drive improvements into the processes and systems that are used to support this position.


Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Experience:

Basic knowledge and understanding of data systems, data reporting and querying. Knowledge and experience with Excel and a modern data visualization tool, such as Tableau or Power BI. Ability to organize, catalog and manage large volumes of files data. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to understand data quality and have a deep commitment to ensuring data is accurate and reliable. Basic process mapping and process improvement skills.

Desired Experience:

Experience with Space Information Systems. Experience with SQL query writing.

The targeted hiring range for this position is $58,100- $77,450 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
