Job Description Summary:
Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in Washington, DC. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools. The law school is located on the GW campus in the downtown neighborhood familiarly known as Foggy Bottom.
The Facilities Assistant is responsible for providing logistical support to the law school’s various events, classes, and functions. This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs.
Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conducts overall service arrangements for all law school functions and events, ensuring proper room set-up to include furniture, electronic requirements, etc.
  • Conducts inventory of various furniture, supplies, and equipment needed for operations, events, functions, and classes.
  • Prepares inventory audits and damage reports on facilities, furniture, equipment, etc. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Makes recommendations to the Senior Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs regarding the ordering of supplies and furniture as needed.
  • Oversees the loading and unloading of furniture and/or equipment from delivery vehicles and directs their transfer to the appropriate destination/office; assigns routine assemblage of furniture purchased from vendors; makes and/or assigns minor repairs to existing furniture/equipment, as needed.

The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
