Department of Geography

at the State University of New York, University at Buffalo, invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor (official state title: Clinical Assistant Professor) with an appointment to begin January 2024.

This is a full-time, renewable term, non-tenure track faculty (10 month) appointment, with an emphasis on teaching that will be split between Singapore and Buffalo, NY. Singapore obligations are 14 weeks per year during the Fall semesters.

We seek a colleague who can teach courses in Human Geography, including economic geography, at the undergraduate level as well as contribute to the department’s courses in general education.

Applicants should have a PhD in Geography or a closely related field and demonstrable teaching and student mentoring experience. Other responsibilities may include developing online curricula, participating in on-going curricula development, and representing the department in recruitment, fundraising, alumni development, and community outreach efforts. The applicant will be expected to teach four courses per semester based on programmatic needs, reduced to three if significant administrative responsibilities are given. Additional teaching and salary opportunities may exist during winter and summer sessions in Buffalo and Singapore, respectively.

A competitive salary and local accommodation in and round-trip airfare to Singapore are provided. Employment in this position will be conditional upon receipt of applicable employment authorization from the Government of Singapore. Candidates must also be eligible to work in the United States.
