Summary of Job Duties:

The Extra Help Assistant/Trojan Works Student Workers serve in various roles across campus as Institutional Work-Study (IWS) student workers. Specific duties are designated by the department hiring supervisor to include but are not limited to customer service, answering phones, and clerical work. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. This position is a provisional appointment with UA Little Rock and is funded through a grant or contract. Annual position renewal is contingent upon continued grant funding and satisfactory job performance.
The Fitness Center Assistant position plays an important role in the overall operation of the DSC Fitness Center. Specifically, the employees are responsible for a variety of tasks and responsibilities that include security, communications, facility cleanliness, internal and external customer service, and supporting various programs that utilize the DSC Fitness Center.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Degree-seeking UA Little Rock students enrolled in classes at the time of application;
  • Eligible to legally work 20 hours per week in the United States;
  • Must be ineligible for Federal Work-Study (FWS);
  • High School diploma;
  • Must be able to work at least 15 hours per week (more hours may be required);
  • Must be available to work some nights and weekends.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all members swipe badge for entry into the Fitness Center and verify eligibility;
  • Greet visitors/students;
  • Answer the phones;
  • Assist callers with the information they seek regarding the Fitness Center;
  • Print out Table/Door signs for events (as needed);
  • Assist with other tasks as needed;
  • Become familiar with the campus and the A-Z directory on the university website.

  • Have the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously;
  • Communicate and work well with staff and customers;
  • Ability to work within a variety of departments and settings;
  • Ability to perform light cleaning duties.
