Summary of Job Duties:

The Camp Site Assistant is responsible for supporting the overall running and operation of the camp. The position starts May 20, 2024 and ends July 25, 2024. The Site Assistant must be available to work 20 hours to prepare for the camp, up to 28 hours per week within the hours of operation during the camp, 20 hours of pre-camp training the week before camp, and up to 20 hours after the camp to wrap up the operation. The exact schedule, including pre-camp preparation and training time and wrap-up time after the camp, will be discussed and established upon hire.
The Site Assistant reports to CI Program Coordinators. This is in a temporary grant-funded stipend position and will not be eligible for benefits. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma plus two years of college-level coursework in Education or another youth-related field of study;
  • Experience working with programs for elementary and/or middle school-age children in an after-school or summer program and working as a team leader in a formal job or volunteer setting.

Job Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily supervision of daily program activities involving students, staff, and volunteers per schedule;

  • Facilitate administrative processes and perform duties such as daily attendance, break, lunch, and snack distribution, and check-in/out process;

  • Support to maintain a positive behavior management system, implement incentives, disciplines, and dismissal;

  • Support and organize field trips, parent orientations, and other special events;

  • Create and maintain up-to-date and accurate program records – registration, attendance, absences, awards, behaviors, etc;

  • Work closely with CI Program Coordinator to coordinate program planning, update records, follow up absences, and prepare supplies and logistics for upcoming activities;

  • Uphold the high-quality standards set for the Summer Program by the state and Children International;

  • Other related duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Excellent coordination, attention to details, and teamwork skills; 

  • Proven ability to manage recordkeeping, data entry, and timely reporting; 

  • Demonstrated professionalism in communication with co-workers, students, and parents;

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with summer camps for youth;

  • Energetic and passionate about being a role model for all children and youth; 

  • Ability to plan for executing seamless daily operations per established camp schedule and protocols;

  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and problem solve; 

  • Spanish helpful; 

  • Must be available onsite on program days Monday-Friday;

  • Must provide own transportation to site;

  • Must be able to pass a background check.
