Extension Program Assistant II

Lone Oaks Farm

Pay Grade 34

The Extension Program Assistant II position is housed at Lone Oaks Farm, a facility operated by UT Extension. The position is responsible to the 4-H Center Director. This is a 40 hour per week position.

 



Qualifications

 

Duties include:

· Provide leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, religion or veteran status.

· Work cooperatively with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Director and all Lone Oaks Farm staff in implementing the STEM Education program. This includes teaching science, technology, engineering, and math.

· Assist the STEM Director in adapting activities and materials for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing the use of the environment and the outdoors as an integrating context in STEM education, as well as providing an opportunity for all students to participate in activities.

· Set up equipment and prepare materials prior to the arrival of students, as well as picking up and packing materials and/or equipment at the end of the day.

· Assist with the supervision and instruction of students.

Minimum/Required Qualifications (include education experience, skills & abilities, licenses & certifications):

· High school diploma or GED, knowledge and experience with technology, including computer skills, Microsoft Word, Excel. Etc.

· Minimum 2 years of related experience required.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to be enthusiastic and creative minded.

· Clear background check will be required.

· Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s license.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

· Vocational or technical training.

· Associates Degree preferred.

· Teaching experience in the sciences.

· Two or more years of experience with teaching youth in a class setting.
