Position Summary
The Extension Office Assistant is a member of the Douglas County Extension team and is a representative of Colorado State University. They will work under the supervision of the Extension Director for Douglas County with additional guidance and support from Extension staff. An ideal candidate will be available to work 35-40 hours per week. The number of hours may fluctuate based on staffing needs. Some evenings and weekends may be necessary.
The office is located at 410 Fairgrounds Road, Castle Rock, CO 80104-2699.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Customer service including answering phones, the front door, and general inquiry emails.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors to the Douglas County Extension Office.
  • Assists Extension staff with clerical and administrative support as needed.
  • Assists Extension staff with event planning, basement scheduling, and general office functions.
  • Assist the Extension Director with scheduling, internal event planning, and communications
  • Writes and sends communication about upcoming 4-H and Master Gardener deadlines.
  • May assist or lead in the development of promotional materials and program documents.
  • Uses social media and mass communication for outreach efforts.
  • Will assist program staff to prepare and organize materials in preparation for programming and County Fair.
  • Other customer service or administrative support duties as assigned.
Position Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • Relevant experience assisting with youth development programs, volunteer management, program/project management, and/or working with diverse audiences.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite, Google docs, Wordpress, and social media.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate in speech and writing as demonstrated through application materials and experience.
  • Exhibits organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to use inductive reasoning and resources provided to solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Extension programs.
