Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland serves as the catalyst for high-quality research, innovation, and learning, preparing our students to create innovations that will address the 21st century Grand Challenges (e.g., energy, environment, security, and human health) and improve the human condition. The Clark School is dedicated to leading and transforming the engineering discipline and profession, to accelerating entrepreneurship, and to transforming research and learning activities into new innovations that benefit millions. The primary purpose of this position will be to develop innovative ways to advance and assess student learning and development beyond the classroom by leading efforts to better integrate student engagement and growth through co-curricular experiences across and outside of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Faculty Specialist will develop an agenda to build, maintain, and assess high-impact learning outcomes and provide driven co-curricular engagement opportunities. In support of these goals, this position will act as a liaison for the Department, including strong community engagement efforts, interfacing with students, the community, and external partners from the WTCC. Physical Demands | Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to travel (in state) on a regular basis to facilitate the experiential learning program |
