Job Summary: The Experiential Learning Program Director coordinates, expands, creates, and assesses experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students. Collaborates across all Divisions, Colleges, Departments, and Programs to operationalization and advance the revised General Education and the vision to afford every student transformative learning experiences. Works with existing internal programs and extend offerings that could be part of the experiential learning opportunities (study abroad, undergraduate research, community-engaged learning, internships/co-ops, etc.). Drives educational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.


Additional Department Summary: Leads, develops, implements, reviews, and maintains new Experiential Learning initiatives and programs that align with the University’s academic and career-development goals. Creates a unified information stream and collect that information into a Co-Curricular Learner Record (CLR). Collects and analyzes data related to experiential learning opportunities (ELOs) and make recommendations for program improvement. Collaborates with University faculty and staff and other community partners to develop and deliver training sessions related to Experiential Learning for students and other stakeholders. Prepares and presents reports on the impact and effectiveness of Experiential Learning initiatives to the Associate Provosts of General Education. Fosters an environment that encourages experimentation and innovation in developing ELOs. Leads efforts in exploring and implementing cutting edge experiential education methods to enhance teaching and learning. In the future, appoints and leads a team to oversee various components of experiential education.

Promotes Experiential Learning Opportunities to the student body, faculty, staff, and community partners through various marketing and communication channels. Collaborates to build support systems for students seeking ELOs and develop accessible pathways to identify and participate in these opportunities. Works with the Registrar’s Office to establish, maintain, and coordinate a comprehensive co-curricular learner record for tracking and verifying student credits earned through Experiential Learning activities.

Manages an annual assessment cycle. Works with the Associate Provosts of General Education to gather and assess data. Collects and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data on program completion according to experience type and student retention and graduation.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of higher education experience; OR master's degree and four (4) years of higher education experience.


Skills and Knowledge: Strong leadership skills. Ability to motivate and inspire a team. Interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to collaborate with groups of students, faculty, staff, and community partners from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Project management and organizational skills. Familiarity with data analysis, student learning outcomes, and reporting. Knowledge of Experiential Learning best practices and trends in higher education. Commitment to the improvement and maintenance of General Education.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience in academic administration, preferably with experiential education. Experience in program development, implementation, maintenance, assessment, and improvement.

Additional Qualifications for Faculty Consideration: Terminal Degree; Strong academic record of teaching, research, and service; Eligibility for a rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in a department at UA based on the specific college and departmental qualifications.
