Occ Summary

Participate in screening individuals' medical his tories and currenthealth status to identify major health risk factors; a dminister fitnesstesting procedures and counsel individuals regarding te st results anduse of exercise equipment; assist with fitness-related edu cationalprograms; Perform a wide variety tests; Assist with planning and implementing individual and group fitness programs.

Level I- Participate in screening individuals' medical his tories and currentHealth status to identify major health risk factors; a dminister fitnesstesting procedures and counsel individuals regarding te st results and usof exercise equipment, assist with fitness-related educ ational programs.- Population usually low risk, even though risk factors exist. Entrylevel work with medical programs, scripts must be co-signe d by level 3Exercise Specialist, Exercise Physiologist or supervisor.Lev el II- Plan, coordinate and implement the development of exercise and re latedprograms for a variety of special populations and clinical programs .- Perform a wide variety of fitness assessments and/or non-invasivecard iopulmonary tests according to work site.- Responsible for developing sa fe exercise prescriptions, goal settingand exercise progression for low, medium and high-risk patients.- Able to teach variety of land and water based group exercise for low,medium and high risk clients as required b y work site.- Requires co-sign / oversight by Level 3 Exercise Specialis t, ExercisePhysiologist or supervisor.Level III- Responsible for all exe rcise requirements indicated in cardiac rehabstate license, AACVPR natio nal and ACSM guidelines as applicable to worksite.- Able to teach most/a ll offered land and water based group exercise forlow, medium and high r isk clients as required by work site.- Recognizes symptom changes & sign s of problems.- Knows appropriate medical response / processes.- Initiat es first responder care.- Active in program certification process and re gulatory agency reviewas applicable to work site.- Understands care mana gement and interacts as patient advocate forappropriate referrals (non-p hysician) to other professionals orcommunity services as indicated.- Fun ction as a Team Leader and performs charge responsibilities

Level I:• All exercise scripts have to be co-signed by highe r-level ES• Lower risk responsibilities.• Significant on the job trainin g takes place at this level.Level II:• Higher level of function and auto nomy, but still needs oversight. Mayhave some “charge duty” responsibil ities, but not full supervisoryresponsibility.Level III:• Functions inde pendently in all diagnostic / clinical tasks.• Higher-level function reg arding program oversight.• No co-signatures required (unless future nati onal policy requires EPsignature.)• Maximum level attained without maste r’s degree or RCEP credential.


Minimum Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field required.


Experience

Level I: No previous experience required. Level II: Minimum 1-year applicable experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Level III: Minimum 2 yrs. applicable experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Level I: BLS certification Level II: BLS; ACSM certification (must attain certification within 1 year of hire) Level III: BLS (ACLS preferred), ACSM Clinical Certification as Exercise Specialist required
