The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Executive Director to serve as a member of the A&M Rural & Community Health Institute team. Job Summary: The Executive Director is responsible for providing leadership for departmental functions to include planning, directing, and evaluating departmental operations. Provides oversight of business activities, strategic planning and development, and program administration. Functions as departmental liaison to customers and represents the University on various committees. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
     

  • Ten years of related experience in management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability lo multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education an Experience:

  • An advanced degree in a health-related profession is strongly preferred.
     

  • Experience in rural healthcare either as a provider or administrator leadership, administrative and policy experience, as well as population health experience.
     

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for ARCHI including ultimate oversight of all ARCHI departments and functions, strategic planning and annual evaluation of organizational operations.
     

  • Directly supervises all ARCHI programmatic and operational directors, providing guidance on program operations and outcomes. Annually evaluates each director's job performance and advises on development of yearly goals.
     

  • ​Responsible for the achievement of deliverables for all ARCHI contracts and grants. May serve as the principal investigator of sponsored projects funded through federal, state, and private agencies and organizations.
     

  • Provides oversight of annual budget development and ongoing budget management.
     

  • ​​​Serves on the Texas A&M University Health Science Center leadership team at the direction of the senior vice president and chief operating officer and identifies opportunities to collaborate with A&M Health colleges, institutes, and centers.
     

  • ​Acts as an advisor/consultant to the University community providing expertise and perspective related to rural health care, quality of care, rural health policy, and potential development of rural health innovations.
     

  • Ensures the development of organizational communication strategies and processes. Represents and promotes ARCHI through the following activities including but not limited to attending and presenting at relevant conferences and meetings; membership in professional associations, e.g. National Rural Health Association; serving on health-related national, state, regional, and local boards and committees; and authoring articles published in peer-reviewed journals and/or general media. Serves as the primary ARCHI spokesperson in response to media requests.
     

  • Stays abreast of developments in rural healthcare by participating in trainings, attending conferences, and professional development sessions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
