Job Summary / Basic Function
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management, the Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions manages all aspects of undergraduate admissions operations for Pennsylvania Western University. This position serves as a key member of the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management leadership team and has a high level of autonomy and accountability. General responsibilities include the continued modernization of the Offices of Undergraduate Admissions at our California, Clarion, and Edinboro campuses, the design and implementation of strategic admission strategies for all campuses, fostering collaborative relationships with all divisional partners, and supporting overall university and divisional strategic enrollment efforts. This individual will also mentor, develop, and supervise members of the undergraduate admissions leadership team, while directing daily workflow and managing the operational undergraduate admissions budget. The incumbent will bring established expertise and experience in undergraduate admissions, marketing, enrollment systems, and change management in higher education.
Essential Duties Include:

  • Develop a flexible, coherent, and unified recruitment plan for Pennsylvania Western University and its campuses to maximize new undergraduate enrollment.
  • Regularly research and analyze undergraduate student data and best practices to provide demographical insight on current and incoming students.
  • Work alongside the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Marketing & Systems to further enhance the utilization of the CRM, Slate, to ensure all system functionality is being leveraged to assist with the recruitment and enrollment of undergraduate students.
  • Implement and manage recruitment efforts for PennWest and its campuses, and report on effectiveness and ROI to divisional leadership and other divisional partners.
  • Working in collaboration with SEM Leadership, staff and campus partners, develops and coordinates strategies and tactics to increase the diversity of applicants and enrolled students to each campus.
  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Marketing & Systems to inform a comprehensive communication strategy that conveys, to PennWest’s target student populations, relevant information regarding admissions and applications processes, including the development of promotional materials to ensure recruitment reflects competitive environment.
  • Works collaboratively with SEM leadership and financial aid leadership on reviewing and recommending innovative institutional aid strategies to recruit, yield and retain students.
  • Effectively manage the day-to-day functions of the undergraduate admissions operations, including developing and tracking undergraduate student admissions key performance indicators.
  • Generate admissions reports, analyze statistical data, and disseminate information on undergraduate student admissions and overall undergraduate student enrollment to a variety of constituents.
  • Work closely with admission campus leads to ensure the ongoing review of all applications and timely decision making.
  • Collaborate with admission leads to initiate effective follow-up activities to result in a better yield from point of acceptance to enrollment.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management, the Associate Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management, the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Marketing and Systems, the leads of other departments within the division, and other university stakeholders to ensure that admissions practices and decisions are aligned.
  • Work closely with key partners in Academic Affairs and Student Affairs on transition of admitted students to enrolled students.
  • Coordinate with all vendors assisting with undergraduate admission operations including RNL for application growth, yield assistance, and merit scholarship models.
  • Mentor, develop, supervise, evaluate, and support professional staff. Initiate cross training within the units so staff can complete multiple tasks and be reassigned during peak periods to avoid backlogs.
  • Monitor functional processes and staff utilization to operate each of the three offices within the allocated operating and personnel budgets.
  • Analyze business practices and implement enhancements to improve services to constituents served.
  • Collaborate with leaders from within the division and university to ensure a collaborative student-centered service approach.
  • Participate in campus committees as assigned by the divisional leadership.

Travel between campuses along with occasional work during evenings and weekends is expected.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Minimum of Education / TrainingRequired Education Summary
  • Master’s level education.
  • 3 years of management experience.
  • 5 years of Undergraduate Admissions experience or other related experience.
  • 3 years of enrollment systems experience.
