The Executive Director of Marketing is responsible for overall communications, research-based messaging, marketing, advertising, branding, manhattan.edu web site management, social media platforms, publications, and editorial services. The candidate represents and promotes the College, increasing its visibility and supporting the institution's mission, vision, and strategic goalsThe position leads the development and/or implementation of the institution’s brand vision, messaging, and strategy, to attract the best students, enhance relations with alumni and donors, and recruit quality faculty and staff. Providing strategic direction and coordinating marketing produced by all academic and administrative units within the College is a central role. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, collaborator, and team builder. Time management is also an essential skill.

Primary Responsibilities and Measurable Actions/Activities, Transactions Performed:

Along with College leadership, develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive strategic marketing plan to promote Manhattan College and its mission while serving as the brand manager. This involves positioning the College in the higher education market, determining target audiences, and designing and producing all marketing, advertising, digital media and related campus projects and major initiatives. The selected candidate will have a close working relationship with the Executive Communications Manager who reports directly to the President. 25% of Time

Identifies key messages and audiences, and communicates the College's stories through consistent and unified narrative and visuals which are rooted in the institution’s mission and strategic plan. Articulates the image and brand in delivering messages to all internal and external constituents. Vet and manage advertising/marketing agencies. 20% of Time

Leads and directs a team of marketing, website development, social media, digital assets, communications, publications and editorial services experts as well as coordination at the strategic and tactical level with all College academic departments and administrative units including but not limited to Advancement. Ensures publications and campus signage are consistent with the institution’s branding. Plans, manages and tracks three College-wide budgets for publications, advertising/marketing and web site as well as a departmental operations line. 20% of Time

Ensures effective and efficient operation of the department by coordinating unit plans, measurable goals, and objectives, and evaluating progress on each against both the unit’s and institution’s goals; ensures policies, procedures, and best practices are carried out. 35% of Time

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of related experience in increasingly managerial roles. Understanding of enrollment management is a plus.

  • Demonstrated higher education marketing and communication experience at a higher education institution.
  • Extensive experience with social media platforms, social media marketing, and management of multiple social media accounts; current knowledge of social media trends; ability to leverage social media tools to engage/promote programmatic initiatives and to assist in meeting enrollment goals.
  • Experience managing relationships, negotiating, and approving contracts and invoices with vendors and partners within approved spending parameters.
  • Analyze and report on campaign performance using data to optimize future strategies.
  • Assist with budget management, reconciliation, tracking analysis and reporting on ROI.

Salary: $110,000-$125,000
