The College of Business is seeking an Executive Director of Advancement. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Executive Director of Advancement is responsible for identifying, developing and executing strategic programs, plans, and strategies with the overall objective of increasing reputation and revenue while engaging internal and external stakeholders as active participants. The Executive Director is the champion for the College of Business (COB) forming transformational relationships with external audiences including alumni, volunteers, corporate partners, and other affinity groups to advance initiatives that broaden the profile and build the reputation of the college. The Executive Director is also responsible for the growth and stewardship of external funding sources to the College, from grants, philanthropy and sponsorship.
The Executive Director is a member of the Leadership Council of the college and reports directly to the Sara Hart Kimball Dean.
The Executive Director is responsible for working collaboratively with college leadership to frame and lead both short and long-term initiatives that help to implement the strategic goals of the university through the College of Business. The position demands flexible daily engagement with external audiences, university partners, as well as college leadership, faculty and staff. The Executive Director is accountable for driving progress on key engagement priorities of the Dean that require cooperation and collaboration of multiple internal and external stakeholders. Strong working relationships with the OSU Foundation and OSU Alumni Association are expected to be developed.
The Executive Director is also responsible for collaborating with COB Academic Leadership and COB Directors of Centers and Academies to further the strategic mission, vision, and goals of those entities. The Executive Director will work closely with the Dean and Academic Leadership to advance the strategic priorities of the Centers and Academies, particularly as relates to the development of strategic partnerships with industry, alumni, and donors.
The position collaborates with the COB Director of Marketing and Communications, the OSU Foundation, and the OSU Alumni Association to ensure efforts are coordinated, integrated, and aligned. Oversees engagement activities to meet strategic goals seeking to increase:
  • the college's reputation, influence and impact;
  • alumni, industry and donor engagement;
  • donor stewardship and philanthropy in partnership with the OSU Foundation

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Bachelor's degree in field related to department, college or unit focus. 3 years' experience developing and engaging in strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.

Requirements :

  • Master's degree in business or related area AND five years of substantial experience providing leadership in implementing and managing strategic relationships for higher education, in a nonprofit organization or foundation, or government setting.
  • OR; Baccalaureate degree in relevant area AND ten years of substantial experience providing leadership in implementing and managing strategic relationships for higher education or in a government or corporate setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to create strong professional relationships with colleagues at the Foundation, College, and University.
  • Outstanding communication skills that are both respectful of diverse viewpoints and can inspire stakeholders both inside and outside the College of Business.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of job performance, including demonstrable success in communicating effectively with diverse audiences and building relationships with minority and underrepresented groups.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to set challenging and attainable goals, to set priorities, and work with and inspire others to high levels of creative performance, and to leverage ideas into action.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Type:

  • Some weekend and evening work required.
  • Travel between Corvallis, OR, Portland, OR, and Bend, OR will be frequent.
  • Occasional national and/or international travel required.

Additional Salary Information: $86,688-$151,764
