SUMMARY:
The Executive Director of Academic Community Engagement and Outreach serves as a part time, 12-month administrative position in the College of Education and Human Services. The preferred candidate will have prior experience as an administrator and be a proven leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The Executive Director of Academic Community Engagement and Outreach works closely with the Dean of the College and is responsible for building relationships in the DFW area with the goal of creating pipelines to increase enrollment at the Texas A&M-Commerce in Dallas. The Executive Director will communicate with external stakeholders to increase awareness of the university’s offerings and to help differentiate our programs from those of our competitors.
The Executive Director of Academic Community Engagement and Outreach will consult with department heads, as needed, to ensure that programming and curricula fit the needs of stakeholders.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works collaboratively with the Dean to shape the academic offerings and message of what the College of Education and Human Services can provide to prospective students in the DFW area.
- Expand relationships among the community, the College of Education and Human Services, and Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas with a particular focus on Dallas ISD and other nearby school districts.
- Identifies and communicates with external stakeholders to increase awareness of university offerings at Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas.
- Identifies sources of prospective students and provides recommendations on where to invest recruiting resources.
- Increases the pipeline of students applying to programs at Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas.
- Assists in moving applied students to enrolled status leading to measurable increases in enrollment at Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas.
- Identifies and recruits qualified instructors aligned with programs offered at Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas.
- In conjunction with the Dean and the Office of Enrollment Management assists in organizing recruiting events at Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas.
- In conjunction with the Dean and Department Heads, ensures that course offerings at Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas optimize resources and are offered in a timely manner with adequate student input to ensure the smooth flow of student progress toward graduation.
- Serves as the primary liaison with the Dean and assorted university support services to increase retention of students at Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas.
- In conjunction with Enrollment Management and Marketing Communications develops communications, promotions, and public relations for Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas.
- Lead the submission of grant proposals and mentor faculty in writing grants to support the mission of the college and university at the Dallas site.
- Help to foster a welcoming environment at Texas A&M University-Commerce at Dallas for all students supporting an intellectually rich learning community where multiple cultures, experiences, and viewpoints intersect to inspire ideas and innovation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Proven records of success in the following areas:
- Leadership experience
- Recruiting students
- Working with stakeholders in the k-12 and higher education communities
- Commitment to shared governance and quality programs
- Evidence of effective interaction and communication with students, faculty, administration, alumni and community
- Grant writing and submission
- Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and students. Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends as needed. Ability to travel and represent the college as necessary
