About the Alpaugh Family Economics Center

The Alpaugh Family Economics Center (https://www.economicscenter.org/ ) is searching for an Executive Director. The Center is a 501(c)(3) organization with affiliation status with the University of Cincinnati, and is housed in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services and Information Technology (CECH). The Executive Director will be an employee of the University.

 

The Center fulfills two missions. First, the Center conducts economic and financial education outreach and programming, teacher training, and resource development. Second, the Center engages in applied research on a fee-for-service basis for nonprofit, business, and government clients. As a 501(c)(3), the Center has a Board of Trustees with full fiduciary responsibility, with current membership at 43 local leaders in business and education.


Job Overview

Provide strategic and functional oversight to the Alpaugh Family Economics Center to ensure effective operations and fulfillment of the Center’s mission.

 

The Center conducts economic and financial education outreach and programming, teacher training, and resource development. The Center also engages in applied research on a fee-for-service basis for nonprofit, business, and government clients. As a 501(c)(3), the Center has a Board of Trustees with full fiduciary responsibility.


Essential Functions
  • Interact with members of the Board of Trustees/Board committees.
  • Engage in strategic planning and direct execution.
  • Support fund-raising conducted by professional development staff.
  • Work with CECH and Alpaugh Center Business Offices to oversee budget and financials.
  • Create and maintain a focus on organizational diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Create robust partnerships with diverse populations in communities and school systems.
  • Engage with state legislators on biennial appropriation for $martOhio ($martPath) program.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) and provide analytical oversight on grants and research projects.
  • Grow the research profile of the Center.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education

Doctoral Degree: Ph.D. in Economics or Economic Education.


Required Experience
  • Seven (7) years of experience in economic/financial education.
  • Experience in the economics education network at the center and/or council level, or with a Federal Reserve Bank.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.

The start date for the new Executive Director is flexible, but will occur within an August-November 2022 timeframe.
