Provides professional expertise and development support for the Vice Chancellor, University Advancement & Alumni Relations. Develops and administers systems for managing information, projects, and communications throughout the unit, functions with a high degree of autonomy. The incumbent will perform coordination of complex, confidential, and sensitive issues of a broad scope related to fundraising programs campus-wide and will inform the Vice Chancellor of the emerging issues and events that affect University Advancement and provide analysis and recommendations on a portfolio of strategic issues. This position will serve in a liaison role, responding with tact and diplomacy for the Vice Chancellor through verbal and/or written communications. The incumbent independently gathers data from a variety of sources, evaluates, and analyzes data, prepares detailed information and recommendations for various projects, presentations, meetings, and conferences. This position will manage a complex appointment calendar and telephone calls for the Vice Chancellor.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $73,900.00 - $133,700.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
 
  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated experience providing support to a C-suite executive or multiple executives. 
  • Some advancement experience preferred. Experience in determining priorities based on general instructions and knowledge of the situation. 
  • Experience working with high-level contacts of a sensitive nature, internally and externally, including high-net-worth donors and trustees, requiring discretion and diplomacy.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Advanced knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of federal regulations such as FERPA and HIPPA. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of common organization-specific computer applications including KFS, Salesforce (CRM), Excel, PPT, etc. 
  • Strong analytical / problem-solving skills. 
  • Political acumen and sensitivities to the differing perspectives and political circumstances within all levels of the organization as well as the Office of the President and external constituencies. 
  • Advanced service orientation. Strong skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, alumni / donors, students and external constituents, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. 
  • Ability to use high-level discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality and handle sensitive, confidential information and requests generated by high-level business executives, major donors, or campus administrators. 
  • Skilled in proofreading, editing and independently drafting correspondence. Demonstrated writing ability. 
  • Demonstrated skill in arranging scheduling and calendaring. Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret relationships, and determine appropriateness in order to recommend decisions in its use.
     

Preferred:
 
  • Advising and counseling skills. 
  • Small to mid-level project management skills. 
  • Working knowledge of the dynamics of fundraising and the concepts of development for academic institutions.

  • May be required to drive on occasion to perform routine or essential job responsibilities. 
  • Must possess a valid California driver license and participate in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program.
