Job Overview
Reporting to the Department Chair the Administrative Assistant provides administrative responsibilities to the chair and to approximately 30 faculty members. Responsibilities include but are not limited to scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, responding to visitors and telephone calls, preparing agendas, furnishing information, responding to routine correspondence, and; exercise judgment and discretion in completing assignments. The Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of administrative functions for the Department to facilitate the smooth operation of the department. Coordinate office services such as purchasing, payroll, filing, and other administrative activities for the department; interprets operating policies; exercises independent judgment in the resolution of administrative problems. Work Interactions
The Administrative Assistant works directly with the Department Chair, providing all administrative support. The Administrative Assistant interacts with all Faculty, Staff, and Students regarding the policies and procedures of the University. Works directly with the Senior Financial Administrator, BGRO Administrators, Accounts Payable, HR, Purchasing and Contracts, and the Asset Management Office.
Requirements and Qualifications
Two years of college required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Five years of required administrative work experience. Must be able to work occasional evenings for events.
Other Skills Ability to work independently, take initiative and problem solve. Excellent writing and communications skills.
